NAVAL MOBILE CONSTRUCTION BATTALION FOURTEEN
ASSOCIATION BROCKWAY AWARD
The Brockway Award was established on 13 September 2013 to recognize individuals and/or organizations for extraordinary performance or service to this Association or to the principles, ideals
and traditions of this Association and/or the Seabees community.
The Brockway Award is named in memory and honor of the late Captain (Retired) Bob Brockway. Captain Bob Brockway was instrumental in the founding of the Association. A Purple Heart Ceremony was held in 2004 to honor the seven Seabees killed and the thirty-four wounded Seabees during the Battalion's 2003-2004 deployment to Iraq. Prompted by gathering of several NMCB 14 enlisted, chiefs and officers of gone by years, Captain Brockway called together a small group of dedicated individuals to form an association to assist the families of those killed and wounded Seabees. From that meeting the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Fourteen Alumni Association was formed.
The Brockway Award neck medal consists of a medallion suspended from a Red, White and Blue ribbon. A certificate with citation will accompany the medal.
Any member of the Association may submit a recommendation for the Brockway Award to the current Committee. The time period covered 1 July of the previous year to 30 June of the current year.
